Good evening CCF :)

This 1848 Braided Hair large cent from a fellow EAC member/dealer is already in a PCGS holder. The variety is Newcomb N-26, quite scarce at R5 and one of the tougher varieties for 1848 behind the N-19 proof strikes. As a Late Dates collector this fits right in with some of my scarcer varieties.

The most recent Late Dates CC (June 2019) has a single coin graded EAC 55 as the finest example reported, and only 19 total coins listed for the variety, but there are certainly quite a few more out there that are unattributed or owned by non-members.

How do you think PCGS graded it?

I also give it an F-12. Too much of the liberty showing for VG.

split grade F15/VF20. the overall look of the coin says VF20 but I'm betting it graded F15

PCGS graded this large cent F12 :) I think VG10 is more accurate, but 12 is ok with me.
