i have a 1983 penny with bubbles in it front and back. what kind of defect is it. also it is not 180 degrees from front to back, can you help?

Hi,

The bubbles are just that....and that was an extremely common defect on post composition change cents of the early 1980s. Sometimes it's a bad plating job. Sometimes it's a result of corrosion under the plating. Sometimes it's gas bubbles under the plating.

As far as the rotation, if it is more than 15% you may have something ...Less than that is interesting but doesn't add much of anything to the value of the coin.

thanks bill I fond a 1992 also but with no rotation how can I find out how much the rotation is off.
