I am pretty sure this is large date - the same as mine. The small date is appreciably smaller than this and the other Halfcrowns in the series. Someone may be able to give you a tooth count or similar more accurate guide.
Yes the small date does seem to carry a premium - around 50% more in Fine grade than the large date.

I've just got out the one in my collection to compare, and it looks identical.

I'd grade your coin as Fine, but the various gouges and edge bumps might knock it down a bit. I like the circulation cameo! The weak centre of the shield on the reverse - particularly affecting the Irish harp - is typical of early Victorian halfcrowns of the 1839-50 period. It's hard to find one with a really nicely struck harp.

I would agree with the Fine grade. And thanks @NumisRob on the info re the weak harps.

Does someone have photos they can show that will compare the small date to the large date?

Fine is a tad generous. I'd grade this one UK VG.

You're quite right, there's not much in it but, if you look closely, you'll notice the figures for the large date appear to have been vertically stretched slightly when compared with those of the small date
So, large date, grade VG...
