I would go about MS60 but the corrosion mark on the denomination and the carbon spot on the obverse would probably be a deal breaker for me.

AU-55+, carbon spots are distracting, I agree.

I am struggling to see ways in which this coin is several grades below this one that earned an MS64 from PCGS based on condition/wear. But I don't know how the TPGs take things like carbon spots into account. WIthout that, I would give it a grade in the low MS range rather than AU

Normally a carbon spot on the portrait would detract for me, too, but I just happen to have an age spot pretty much at that exact location, so I just might ignore it in this case.

Thanks tdziemia, hard for us to avoid those age spots. I bought this one for 1/4 of what I've seen slabbed MS coins going for so that spot was discounted for handsomely. It came from a dealer in Europe.

Here's a question. The spot can be removed but it will alter the surface. Which do you folks believe is worse, the spot or altered surface?
