This one got me excited when I found it in a roll. Actually found two of them so I know it is a die issue. Looks very much like a wide but light doubled ear.

Sent it in to Dr. Wiles who replied, "Not a DDO. Overlays show that the secondary image is too broad."

Not sure I agree with that, but he is the expert. Looks like it fits the ear pretty much perfectly to me. Alas.

The coin is also some minor class 6 doubled die but Wiles did not address that and probably not strong enough for his attention anyway.

I do believe I will submit this one to Mr. Wexler for a second opinion on things as not ready to give up on it yet.

1945 Lincoln Wheat cent - ruled not a doubled die

That's a bummer. Certainly looks like it fits to me. If it's a die gouge or scratch that is certainly interesting. Good luck if you resubmit!

Let Wexler take a look and let us know the outcome. After that,it might be interesting to send it to ANACS and see what they say?

Interesting die anomaly if not the real deal.

Hmmmm.... the secondary image does appear to match the most raised part of the lobe (not the southernmost perimeter.)
The raised portion would hit the die face first. And the anomaly even has the raised bumps that are visible on the primary lobe.

Put some arrows on your image of the bumps I'm talking about.
