Are die chips more susceptible to corrosion. I'm trying to figure out if these chips turning green are a chemical reaction or normal corrosion.

I believe this is actually where the copper plating has split. What you're referring to as die chips is the zinc interior reacting with the elements, i.e. "zinc rot". Die chips are a visual feature, not so much a compositional one, so they would ostensibly react in the same way as anything else affecting the exterior of the coin.
