I was almost 100 percent sure this was PMD and it still might be. When I put in under the microscope it almost looks like it had a run in with a Buffalo nickel but someone knows more than me!

It's just damage. It's pushed in on one side and it pushes out on the other. If it had happened during the strike, the area opposite wouldn't show distortion.

Just badly damaged.
There is no way that could happen during
the striking of the coin.
