Beautiful coin! I played with the contrast, lighting, and color on your photos to get a better look at the surfaces.

The obverse has a edge-to-field contact mark between the cap fold and "M" of UNUM. There are some small nicks and two short gouges on the cheek. The rest of the obverse is relatively free of marks. The reverse is spectacular. I see the obverse as MS-64 and the reverse as MS-65+, for a net of MS-64.

It's hard to gauge reflectivity from photos. I see fields that look "deep" and have great surfaces. With the frost largely intact, and especially strong on the reverse, I would not be surprised by a PL designation.

Since you didn't mention the details of the slab, my hunch is that it is either an old rattler or an older ANACS. If either is correct, a straight MS-64 seems more likely, and I could well see this edging up a notch today.

Thanks for the response fortcollins! It's graded by NGC, which I had mentioned in my title but I should've put it in the description as well. Also, my apologies for the unsatisfactory pictures. I tried my best but it's tough to grab pics through the slab. Glad you could grade despite my pics.

@QuarterHoarder72, Your photos were fine. I sometimes download the photos and play with lighting, contrast, color, etc. just because doing so simulates some of the effects of holding the coin in hand.

My bad on not seeing the "NGC" in the title. As my better half tells me (daily) if it was a snake, it would have bitten me.

Knowing now it is NGC, I could well see the coin NOT being designated PL. I still think PL is a possibility for this critter. It's a beauty.
