Not sure it's even possible to figure out if this is struck through or damage given the wear on the coin, but it's cool looking and a keeper either way.

I learn towards a strike through because of the rounding of the trench and how it's weaker in certain points than others. There is also slight weakness of the headdress as it approaches the trench. IMO Struck through loose wiring seems possible.

Thanks for the input. Good to hear folks leaning toward struck through as obviously that is a better score than damage.

And thanks for the kind words Muddy. Glad you enjoy the pics as I enjoy finding this stuff and always good to hear that others find the pics worthy. It's all about having the time to do the pics, as there is no lack of material here. This particular coin was just something I saw in big lot of Indians and flying eagles I bought. Couple repunched dates yet to figure out and some flying eagle doubled dies that I might have to post to get some more input on which is which as the coins don't have great details and I am obviously a Lincoln specialist and off my knowledge base with those.

Keep this away from any other brass coins! It has COPPER WORMS!

Great strike through thread(?)! I would love to have it in my collection.
