Crazy surprise. I was going through some random coins with 2 rolls of dimes. I went through the first roll, and was just tired of it to the point, I was going to just put the next roll in the "to the bank" pile. I decided not to and had a pleasant fun surprise. All the dimes were dated from 1900 to 1940's.  |

Where did you get the roll from? Was it something you had laying around for a long time and forgotten about or perhaps from a bank?

 to the CCF! That's a really nice find!  If it came from the bank, I'm sure that it was sent there by accident! Some poor roll hunter has a full roll of clad dimes it their collection that they think are silver, while the real silver roll went back to the bank. Make sure you don't do the same thing. If you put the coins back in a dime wrapper, MARK IT WELL! Or you may want to put them in 2x2 flips and a add them to a presentation page. I'd show them off as an example of a GREAT find! Amazing that there are some people that don't know the value of 90% silver . If you recently got those from a bank I would have gone right back there and asked the teller if they had any more customer wrapped rolls of dimes with Brandt Inc. wrappers . And I might have taken a chance and bought any denomination rolls that had the same wrappers .Sometimes you just have to think outside the bun .  |

Morning All! I didn't get it from a bank. I got it from an estate. The other 2 rolls of dimes were late 1900 and 2000, so I would say that quite possibly the originator put them in the roll together as intent of keeping and they got put with the other coins after the passing. The paper was the old time roll, while the others were a newer version. Great fun. I would never have guessed that this was what I would find.
@John1 - I am new enough to not know what the key dates are yet. Although I did just get my 2020 Guide Book. I am trying to learn how to read it and understand it. A hint is always welcomed! ha! :)

Thanks All! So, looked up, and if I understand, nothing exceptional except amazement. I do need to look at them closer. I cataloged them by date, and didn't know where to find the mint stamp until I looked into the book. I had one or more of 00, 05, 06, 07, 08, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 19, 20, 23, 24, 27, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40.
@T-Bop - My mom passed away and this was in her stuff. I would bet it was from my Great Grandpa who collected. Since she had normal coins with it.. who knows.

Not surprised, why would people care, most don't even use coin or currency anymore. Plastic/electronic transactions, daily. I love getting change back on my purchases and use plastic maybe a half dozen times per year, and I'm the bread winner for a family of four. Nice find L Lady, welcome to the show! You have to be 60 years old or more to remember 90% silver coins in common circulation. Generation X Y and Millennials have never had 90% silver coins as pocket change. |
