Bought this for $5 sight unseen from a variety/error dealer. He's not perfect and clearly missed that this was a fake. All good as I collect fakes and still would have given him a couple bucks for it anyway.

This is the one you were talking about. It kinda looks like solder IMO. If it were a genuine split die there would be weakness in the surrounding devices and extend to the opposite rim.

I agree with Grape
I think the coin is genuine. There have been a couple of these posted previously
where a soldered bar was added to the reverse to make a piece of jewellery.
