Hi all, I'll be helping a family member to sell a lot of her possessions, and one of the things she wants to get rid of is her small collection of slot machines. I remember when she bought the coins for them a number of years ago - she bought them by the roll off ebay and paid quite a premium to do so. I asked her if she wanted me to go through them first but we haven't gotten around to that yet. What I was wondering is if there would be any interest on the forum here for the coins? The slot machines are not in regular use - there are 8 in her house and I think only 2 take half dollars. She plays maybe once a month, if that, and the grandkids basically ignore them in favor of the xbox. It might be fun to put the bunch of them up as unsearched (by me (yet )and definitely not by anyone else here - no numismatists in the family yet besides me, sad to say). I'm going to be busy enough taking pictures of everything else and doing a yard sale for small stuff and ebay auctions for the rest. If there is interest in the half dollars, I will get them together and see how many there really are. I think the rest of the machines are quarter and nickel machines... if any interest in those as well, please let me know. thanks

I suspect the halves may beat all the heck up. I know when I was in vegas years ago I would put a $100 bill in a .50 slot machine and play once then cash out for the coins to search. All of them were so much junk but did find 1 silver (go figure). I may be interested in the actual game machine. Was just on ebay looking at some machines to see if could afford any.

That would be excellent, too! I'll get some pictures. I don't think the condition of the coins would be as bad as Vegas, but I guess I'd better take a look-see. I'll post back after I get some pics of them, as well.

In the past I've found halves that looked like someone threw them accross a busy street during rush hour. I too wonder why so much damage and found out from slot machines. They scratch, gough, scrape coins pretty bad. Try taking some photos of the better ones.

Provided they are't cactus, I would be interested. Circulated condition US coins are more than fine for my collection.

Ok.. I got a few pictures. The coins are mostly in great shape.. there were a few that were nicked all over but they are definitely not the majority. I even saw a few 40% silver and some with luster in the small batch I looked at closely (I did go through a few to see what I could find condition-wise for pictures.. really wanted to peek at all of them but I'd still be there!). She also has Ikes.. I think she's keeping 2-3 machines so she'll be keeping a little bit of the coins, but not many. For pictures of the slot machines and the coins click here: http://s242.photobucket.com/albums/...lotMachines/. If anyone expresses an interest, I'll go through and count them, take out what she wants to keep and we can go from there. She isn't going to want to keep the silver ones so they would go in the for-sale bucket. IKES!

I would normally as well.. but not only does she need the funds sooner rather than later (and can't wait for me to find some time to do it), but Kennedy's (and Ikes) are not something I am really familiar with (varieties, errors etc). It's a good opportunity for someone else who knows what to look for.. besides the silver ones, of course ;) All PM's replied to..
