So after my initial 10 pound bag of wheats, I've bought 3 more. The second and third were good, a lot of pre-30's. No keys were found (not that I expected to find any). I did have a blast searching them. I am in the process of rolling them now to get the final count. The 4th bag sucked (the pre-1939 ratio was real bad). I think it was due to the shop I buy from having a huge ad in the paper stating they buy wheat cents for 3 cents each. And there was an overflow of people selling. The last bag did have 4 IHC though. I will post the final tally this weekend when I'm done, and oh yeah I'll post some pics when it is done!!

I only hope with all those you are aware of the numerous possibilities of other than just old Copper ones. For example the lately discovered 1982 reverse doulbe die. Naturally you are watching for the infamous 1959 Wheat Back, a 70S small date, 95 Double Die, 72 Double Die, all the Wide AM's, 83 Double, 84 Double Ear, etc. Then of course all the RPM's.

I suspect Sublime will have a hard time finding any of those (except the '59 wheat back) in bags of WHEATS.

Wait, there are known, legitimate 1959 wheats?

The Secret Service apparently said there's at least one known genuine 1959-D Wheat Ear reverse Cent:

This could well have been a 'mule' made in January 1959. Production of the 1959 Memorial Reverse Cent did not commence until February 12, 1959.

My wife asked me what I was thinking. I told her I could go spend that money on something less constructive. She agreed, and was happy for me. It has been like a treasure hunt for me. In about 50 years when the cent is long gone, someone will be talking about some 2012 proof cent they found, and I will ask them if they know what a Wheat cent looks like, then I can tell them I have about 5000 of them in the vault. Could you imagine if you had 5000 IHC stored away? That would be fun.

Nice analogy; and I agree, that would be fun.
