I recently paid $2500 for a 1996 gold panda NGC graded MS-69. I was disappointed upon receipt that there is a rather noticeable mark/nick/scratch at the 9 o'clock position close to the rim of the coin. (photo attached). Is this normal/acceptable for a MS-69 coin? Should I return it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I believe that you can send it to NGC as a Guarantee submission if you are unhappy with the grade.

At 69, the scratch shouldn't be there.
The TPGrader has obviously missed it, we are all human, I guess.

If you re-submit, they will almost certainly grade it down, and apologize for the mistake.

What you do about this situation, is up to you, big money involved here.

Does it really matter whether or not the NGC grade is accurate? If you don't like the coin, and it has a return privilege, then return it. IMHO keeping a coin that you're not really happy with has a way of continuing to eat away at you.

I agree...if you don't like it now more than likely you never will. Return it if possible.

As long as can return it and you aren't happy, return it before its too late.

Is that a large date or small date? See if you can do a exchange.

Edit: It looks more like a missing frost area, need better picture.
