Hey everyone. I am trying to help out my Grandpa to find an estimated value for some coin/medals he has. I have found the medals listed online, but no values. He really wants to know if he has a treasure or not, so someone please direct me somewhere helpful! The medals are pictured below. There is third one, larger and very gold. I am still looking for the picture of it. Thanks, Sara

G'day,
the first is a commemorative medallion, marking the arrival of Napoleon's second wife, and Empress. I don't collect these, so I won't try to estimate what the market might yield for it.

The second is a token of circa 1792. The monetary system was in disarray then, and paper money "assignats" were discounted at different rates, depending upon which series they belonged to. This token refers to Assignats "the 50th [series] and above". These come on to the market regularly. Have a look in "the 'bay", and see what they get there.

Both are in pleasing grades.

CoinArchives.com is an excellent database of coins, tokens and medals, and includes prices realised at auction in major auction houses in Europe and America. It includes whether the items sold or not, and the prices realised.

Unfortunately, I can't find an example for the first one, but this one is a token/medal of the same type as the second one, most probably by the same manufacturer; it has the same "life and liberty or death" motto. This one sold for 160 euros, which is perhaps an absolute best-case scenario for your item.

Thank you all so much. There is one other coin he has that I will be posting soon. He seems to think it is more valuable than the other two, but I think it just looks too new. Thanks again, Sara
