Seems a little thick to me.. hard to tell.. cant get the lighting right. Any ideas?

Lighting isn't good plus I dont have my good cmer with me. Hope this helps. If not, let me know and I'll try again when I get home.

Take a full pic of the whole reverse and some closeups of USOA as well as EPU.

My eyes agree with what you see, the FG letters are thick ... I can also see split serifs (F-bottom of vertical bar, NE of top horizontal bar; G-top end). And as you stated, With better lighting you can show what you are indicating...
