I posted this originally on the US error form because I didn't see the Canadian error forum on the homepage. I apologise. I found this nice looking nickel today in a jar of change. I decided to look it up and it turns out there are three different varieties. Mine appears to be the 6/6, however there also seems to be doubling on the 4 and doubling of the second A in CANADA. Did I finally spot a DD?

Yup, looks like a 6/6; you can also see a bit of the doubling at the top tip of the 6. I'll let others comment on whether there is DD, Mechanical Doubling, or deterioration doubling...

I was wondering, would it be worth it to take this coin in to a coin dealer or specialist? I can't seem to find any information about the doubling on that A

Simple minor doubling and the condition of this coin is worth face only.

Thanks john100, but I'm going to ignore you and call it my first keeper, since it is doubled.

Looks like circulation damage to me on the top of that A.

I had my local coin shop look at it, they offered me $10 for it. He agreed on the 6/6 but also noted the 4/4 and dind't know what to make of the A

Take the ten bucks and run. There are a number of known doubled sixes and doubled forty sixes. Yours is not the money coin. Go to the coinsandcanada site and you will see a pic of the six that brings money, not at all like yours. Most of the doubled sixes, like yours, are worth two bucks at best. As for the A, SPP-Ottawa is correct, damage. Even if it was a doubled die, unlike US coins, Canadian coins with minor offset attract more yawns than interest.

Thanks DBM, I didn't give it to them, this is my first doubling on a coin. It's a permanent keeper for me
