I've done a couple of small projects like that. It started with this table -- the pennies are glued to a posterboard; the acrylic frame just lays on top:
Carolina-Beach-Homeowner-Designs-Floor-With-26,000-Pennies

Last month, I made four sets of coasters for holiday gifts. These coins are glued to glass coasters and covered with a layer of resin. They were a hit. One set went to a white elephant party with my coworkers (mostly mid-20s) -- they were traded quickly and were the first gift to be locked because they were traded so many times:

Love projects like this. The floors look especially cool if there is some sort of pattern with the darker and shinier coins.

Those coasters are a great idea. Nice.

Lots of people are doing this now. I saw a local restaurant with a wall made of pennies.
