Has it been cleaned? Otherwise its not a bad deal. It apperas to have been lightly cleaned, but I'm not positive from the pictures. I'm not sure if its a full EF40. -PP

I think for 110$ its a decent deal, What is going on in the left hand field on the obverse.

Has the seller supplied larger pics? I just think you'll need them to judge grade and authenticity with any accuracy--like 1000 x 1000 pixels per side of coin is a reasonable expectation, given the counterfeits out there. --my honest .02, good luck!

Don't want to be a kill-joy. but how much do you know about the seller. There are a lot of fakes out there in the Trade dollar market. This one doesn't look right to me. Ya need better pics - more detail. I would feel better about it. Seller should have no problems with that. Good luck regardless!!

The left side of the obverse seems very busy to me, between the feet and the foliage. It looks pitted and scratched as if a wire brush was ran over it. The same right behind the Left arm(technically the right side of the coin) of the lady. You can see the scratches going right through her right forearm. Maybe this is on the holder? Personally, this past weekend I bought my first Trade dollar and it had some chop marks on it. The only reason I bought the coin is because I liked it. I have zero knowledge of Trade dollars and just assumed it was real. It seemed to me that it was cleaned but I did not care because I liked it and me bringing it home gave me something new to study. I would be very dissapointed if it was fake, but on the other hand I would make sure to never make that same mistake twice.

Sorry for the delay. I was extremely busy last night and did not get a chance to work on the computer. Tonight I will be able to spend some more time on it. As I do not have any reference books here. Can you get larger pics. That would be a help.

Murty, I think you made the correct decision. If you look at the eagle's right wing. They do not seem to match. Also on the obverse the 'rug' pattern appears slightly different. Also the coin seems well worn from circulation, but no dings. I think it is probably a real good fake.
