As most people have already said, they appear real and harshly cleaned. Honestly, I would pass on the entire lot. These coins aren't hard to find without issues.

With all due respect, rereading the thread, I fail to see where "most people have already said, they appear .... harshly cleaned." CoinFrog said "excessively cleaned" and others said "cleaned." I do agree that these coins aren't hard to find without issues .... BUT for about twice the price paid. Our OP liked the coins, and he was most concerned with getting them at a fair price. Dealer "bid" on a problem free 1869 half in VF is $100.

Personally, at $170, I've no doubt that these coins could be flipped for a 20% profit in the right venue.

@ ExoGuy

Thanks, I really appreciate all the knowledge/insight you have shared in this thread. FWIW, I don't mind breaking even or losing a little every now and again, those are the breaks. I also intend to keep the 1869 and sell the other 3, so we shall see how it goes.

About joining a local club, I have established some ties/connections with members of the local club in my area, but am fairly busy overall so I have yet to officially join myself. I might join over the summer when work and family obligations hopefully lighten up a bit.
