Like the title says, I'm Lexi, and I'm not really a collector. But for some time now I've been paying attention to my change and I've noticed a lot of quarters dimes and pennies that I think might actually be rare,or worth money. Now that I'm a part of this forum, I think you guys may actually be able to help me decide on if they're actually rare or not. With this I'm going to include pictures of a 2008 penny, on heads it's got a gouge right under Liberty, on tails where the gouge is, it's right at United, but you can only see U and ed clearly. Only part of n and t.

Your coin looks like PMD, not an error.

To the Forum.

As John1 stated, your coin has just been damaged.

It is only an error if it happens during the striking of the coin.
Anything like scratches, gouges, distorted letters etc. are
nearly always damage.

You can see part of a date under the UNITED on the reverse, and the letters are pushed into the surface and mirrored, which means someone took this penny and another penny and squished them together with a vice. Just damage, no value.
