I lean toward high VF, but it's close. Some obverse environmental damage?

Newbie1877, your nickel is the 1868, reverse of 1868, "One broken letter" variety (FS-901).

There are several other broken letter varieties for the the 1868, reverse of 1868 nickel, including two broken letters, three broken letters, and four broken letters. FS-901 is the most common of these varieties.

I have photos of the broken letter varieties, if you're interested in seeing them.

I specialize in Shield nickels because there are so many die varieties including die cracks and repunched dates.
