The obverse has images suggesting a variety of things: crumpled wheat stalks maybe and letters and numbers in front of Lincoln's face, and there seems to be a fainter impression to the rear of Lincoln's head with a possible letter "A". The reverse side is normal looking. ANY ideas? I am new to your community and am grateful for your insight. Thanks!

Looks like some sort of glue , give it a soak in acetone. Always a good idea to post a photo of both sides of your coin

Old Mike, thanks, it was some kind of substance on the surface; I was surprised since it seemed like it was part of the penny... That's experience for ya... Now I have a shiny 1945 penny with no error, lol.
