I am dialing in the lighting.
Shooting at f5.5 1/100 shutter.

I have a question.
On the below quarter, the toning is quite pronounced in the photo.

In hand, and under 10x, maybe 50% of that toning shows. The toning is not nearly that visually jarring. And all of it is quite a bit lighter than the photo depicts.

Is there any technique that would minimize the toning a bit so that the piece looks sorta like it does in hand?

Tricks with the lights, aperture, voodoo, etc?

Only a worthwhile exercise, if you intend selling.

It's quite a nice coin, anyway.

I've found that the camera sees a LOT more than the human eye.

It's called Photoshop.

Edited

I use Olympus' proprietary editing program to do my RAW files.

But it feels like cheating.

You could try changing the lighting angle and amount of diffusion, to see if that makes any difference.
