Hello all

I have a politically incorrect but historic medal. NGC would not touch it, and only said like they do not grade that type of coin. Ok Their world population website is down but I bet they have graded them before.

So I look at the PCGS figures and see about a half dozen of "my type" of medal on there. But I was too chicken to send it in. Somebody said hey send it to ANACS and sure enough, they graded it, slab and all... year, country, metal, weight, etc.

So I was happy about that. Now, I know that the bad and forth between t.p.g. is a hot-button topic, so I won't touch it.

But I want it in a PCGS holder. I emailed them, showed them a picture of it in it's ANACS holder, and they very nicely (the lady I was messaging with there) there said no problem on doing the crossover. Heck, they might have graded it raw but like I said I was too chicken to send it in, thinking I might get the NGC treatment.

The point is that I THINK that already having it graded by ANACS MIGHT have helped... I said THINK and MIGHT.

Who knows? I have read enough horror PCGS stories, but I don't care.

Maybe PCGS charging me $250 for a single coin may have had a little to do with it too. It's the whole works, and I am assured that what I want on the label PROBLABLY will be there but jeeez. In all fairness, it is not the business as usual kind of a "normal" slabbing and subject, so what the heck.

The medal has a melt value of about $750, so 1/3 of that for the fee may seem like a lot, but the way I figure it is that I will make that up and maybe more being that it is PCGS graded... I hope. I am not worried about them grading it... it seems to me that ANACS way undergraded it, so they could appear tough, but like I wrote it is a hot button topic I would rather avoid. It graded as a PF63 so even if PCGS slaughters me, there is just no way they could go down more than a point, and just MAY go up a point. who knows?

Ok, the point being that the medal already ANACS certified MAY have helped with a PCGS crossover acceptance, rather than throw the dice on raw or cracked out of it's holder and then sent in like so many of you "players" out there do haha.

BTW, I am not ashamed of my ANACS holder one little bit... I read they were the first and the oldest and were ANA at one time and basically started this whole TPG thing.

p.s. please don't ask for a picture because this is not a picture or image related topic.

Looking at https://www.PCGS.com/crossover you can leave the medal in its current holder and ask PCGS to grade it among a number of options. If they can do what you ask, it will cross over. If not, they'll return it as-is. You still have to pay some kind of fee, but that's all you would lose.

If you really want a PCGS holder, it's worth a shot. Just hope it doesn't get lost in the mail.
