If the history of this coin had been different, it would have been a great find. Solid early die state of an interesting RPM. As is, it makes for a nice image of the date with die scratches but not so collectible.

I am wondering if acetone and then Verdi-Care would help any?

Sure, acetone will take all that glue off no problem, but what will be left is a reverse with a glue-shaped bright red shiny splotch. The area under the glue won't have toned, and so yes there will be no glue but you will know exactly where it was.

Very nice TB !
Just think , The glue spot gives this one a providence . Doesn't increase it's value but you know it was most likely part of an advertisement or promotion from that time.

Yeah, some advertising promo kind of thing probably. Wish it were still attached, but I do plan to leave the glue on there as really see no advantage to removing it and it does give the coin at least some sort of unfinished history.

If you wanted TB, I'll give you Martin (a friend of mine's) contact. He works as a conservation expert and I believe worked with NCS before working where he does now. Guy knows what he's doing, saved some unsaveable coins of mine. Remember the proof 3CN I showed you at Baltimore? Looks brand new and went into a PCGS PR64 holder. He could remove it and evenly retone the reverse. It would still be a details coin, but look a million times better.

Grapes, I may take you up on that for something different, but this one just isn't worth enough to spend a lot of time on. Fantastic news on the proof though, as that is a nice coin.
