Seller ID'd as it Caracalla Mesopotamia
Mesopotamia part is easy enough .....
Only took me a few days to figure out the Rhesaena part !

Still I was a little dubious about Caracalla
The Obv. legend seems to read P O C C which would fit AΛEXANΔΡOC CEB neatly
Now the reverse most likely references a Legion (III Gallica) since Rhesaena had become a veterans colony under Septimius and the seated Tyche holding a large eagle strongly hints in that direction
Legion III Gallica operated in Syria and was instrumental in replacing Macrinus with the little monster Elagabalus
Some sources cite "blundered" legends so that might be confusing the issue here

All opinions welcome !

So I have 'nailed' it down as .....
Mesopotamia Rhesaena Æ26
10.28 grams
Most likely Severus Alexander

P O C C (E B) ?
Caracalla-?....-Maybe-Elagabalus-?-....-Or-....-Severus-Alexander-?

Caracalla-?....-Maybe-Elagabalus-?-....-Or-....-Severus-Alexander-?

Likely a reference to LEG III GAL ?

The coins of this mint are tricky to ID since the quality seemed to deteriorate after the Persians raided the city. Have a look at the plates in this link, there may be a match: https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt...=1up&seq=126

Many thanks !
While somewhat dated it is well worth the effort to wade through
I had noticed one thing about this piece that showed it to be unlike other issues of Rhesaena which I found online
The flan shows a distinct taper that accounts for much of the missing reverse legend
Much like Seleucid AE's of pre Roman era

Caracalla-?....-Maybe-Elagabalus-?-....-Or-....-Severus-Alexander-?

I had intended to leave well enough alone
But the surface shows it was rather roughly and not very thoroughly conserved
As I plan on keeping it around for awhile I might as well give Alex a gentle bath
Only to eliminate most of the brush marks
But perhaps some details may emerge
