They both look real to me, others will be along soon to give their opinions.

Thank you. They passed every test I could think of in my research. I got them for 20$ from a local coin dealer that I befriended . Now these coins (pictured in this post)look fake too me . Any opinions on these would be awesome. They look cast

Again they look ok to me, a bit over cleaned but genuine. The Antoninianus looks like it might have been cleaned using electricity and water. I will wait for others to comment,

Are you referring to the second set of coins I posted? I do know when I got them tested they contain copper lead and tin . That would be a bonus if they were real I just thought they looked really fake and it first I thought they were over cleaned also and I asked the man I bought them from if he possibly even used a wire brush on like a Dremel to clean them because I've seen coins cleaned like that (ouch)and they look just like this but he says that this is how we got them

I was looking at the far right hand side coin. As a detectorist, I have found Roman coins in all states, some really grotty, some with good detail and the grotty ones take some cleaning and generally look like the ones you have posted here. There is a thread already with links to sites etc., that can help you along with identifying cast coins from genuine ones http://goccf.com/t/156436 and there is also a brilliant one with links to sites and books http://goccf.com/t/149883 It might be worth having a good read through them

to the community The Byzantine coins are genuine, and the second set is also though a bit over cleaned. In the future, when adding different coins you should start a new thread.

Thanks for the input. Does anyone think this looks like a counter strike ? Just the circular impression makes me seem to think that but I don't have enough knowledge to even determine if counterstriking was a thing at that time period

I took the liberty of flipping the reverse image of the coin and lining it up with the obverse. There does appear to be a flattening on the obverse that lines up with what looks like the counterstamp on the reverse. The edge appears to follow the same contour. Hopefully a more knowledgeable member will be able to identify the counterstamp.

Oh wow I really didn't think of looking on the obverse for sign of a counter stamp ! Thanks for pointing that out.
