The thinnest 1966 penny I have ever seen it's paper thin but still readable I don't know much about it was not to Shure if it's worth anything

Without pictures,
my guess is that it has been dipped in acid, and the detail remaining is very indistinct.

It sure sounds like an acid-dipped coin, rather than a mint error. But without pics it's impossible to be certain.

Or possibly the Mint was experimenting using paper things sheets of materials.

Split planchet possibility cannot be dismissed.

I have seen a New Zealand CuNi 10 Cents split planchet, that broke into three perfectly round components.

With this particular planchet error, the remains of the obverse and the reverse image could be seen, but the surfaces exhibited a very rough appearance of metal distress, quite different from evidence supporting corrosion from acid.

Struck on a split planchet, especially one that is paper thin, it most likely wouldn't have everything readable. Not enough material to strike up details.
