Hi all,

Anybody have any info about Whitman Baltimore? Is it still happening with all the COVID-19 stuff going on? They have no updates on their website. This was the first major coin show I was going to attend, but it's looking more and more like it'll eventually be called off.

Any known info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Eh. We'll be there. None of the other dealers are ditching so we aren't either. Without getting into the politics of it, I don't PERSONALLY believe COVID-19 will be the world ender that everyone's making it out to be. TBH I think it'll be like a slightly nastier version of the swine flu outbreak we had a few years back. I caught it, it sucked, I'm still here. Like any normal virus or disease the only people significantly at risk are the old/young and immunodeficient. Not to get into a debate on here, so I'll leave it at that.

Thanks for the input. Don't want to get into a debate either, so I hear you on that.

Some factual things would be: dealers who are or aren't cancelling. The show is or isn't cancelled. We don't need to go farther than that, but the more bits of information the better.

Thanks for starting it off!

It's two weeks away.
You should be able to have a good idea of the situation by then.

I'll be there.
I live only about 35 miles away.
There's a coin I'm looking for and I know a dealer who has one.
Hope he brings it to the show.

And I've got an eye on a coin in one of the Stack's auctions.

There is a coin show not far from me this Sunday. I always go to coin shows but due to this Virus stuff, I'm going to sit this one out. Also, a large gun show this Sunday. Not going there either. Just can't see taking a chance at any place where lots of people from all over are there. There will always be others.

Not within travel range of Whitman but my thoughts on coin shows and other crowded places in general:
When Covid-19 gets a bit closer to my state I'll start limiting leaving the house for non-essentials. But for now I still plan to attend the local coin show and continue looking for antiques and collectables for my collections but on a lesser scale only going to the best outlets. As someone whose immune system is compromised and has pre-existing respiratory issues I need to take this very seriously. I need to keep my job and health insurance so that might be the only place I go if this pandemic really hits the fan in my home state. I've been trying to stockpile some food and essentials.

All,

I'm still deciding but I'm most likely going to cancel my attendance for the show. Hope I can get back as much money as I can, and hope to get to a future large show soon.

Very disappointed, but seems to be the right call for now.

Any other updated plans/opinions?
