Hello everyone, my name is Teddy from Minnesota. I recently started thinking about getting back into some coin hunting and collecting. I used to enjoy it when I was in my teens and have rekindled the excitement. two weeks ago when going through a drive-thru with my eleven-year-old son, I asked him to grab the change to pay at the window and when he was counting out some pennies I told him make sure to not grab the
Wheat penny that I found. He didn't know what I meant so I dug around and found that I had hidden it underneath my coffee mug for safekeeping. He got pretty excited about the coin so when we got home I dug out the little bag that I had some silver and older wheat pennies in and showed it to him. his eyes got really big when he looked at some of the dates and
Morgan silver dollars that I have.....which isn't a whole lot at this point but I did go on
Amazon and pick up some coin books to fill. I'm going to start having him look through change and see if we can't make it a new hobby together. I am an eBayer so needless to say the first thing I did was start looking around on there...only to make some dumb purchases. Lol. In the last two weeks between seeing YouTube videos and reading up on some things as well as visiting with a couple coin shop and pawn shop people I've learned a few things. I also have a friend who has a nice collection but I think he gets a little bored of my questions. as you can tell with this long post I don't have any trouble coming up with words to say. I will be posting some questions regarding unsearched coin rolls as well as where I might have some luck finding some coins at a fair value vs on
ebay where people seem to Jack things up and over price their shipping not to mention
ebay charging tax which messes up what I think each coin is worth buying for. If that makes sense. I look forward to visiting with everyone here. Before I forget to mention, I am hoping somewhere at some point to find a 1793, 94 or 95 lettered edge large cent in decent enough shape to read the words on the back and see some flowing hair on the front. I really like that coin for some reason. Maybe it's because my buddy has one and I thought it was extremely cool to see letters written on the side of the coin. Thinking about the history that a coin from the 1700s May have is very cool and I want to introduce that to my son.
