NGC - Coin of the Day: On this day in 1571, the city of Manila, the Philippines, was founded by Spanish conquistador Miguel Lopez de Legazpi. The US Mint facility in Manila in the early 20th century marked the only time the Mint had a facility operating overseas. The 'M' mintmark can be seen on certain coins struck there, such as this 1925 Centavo.
