which should I get? I've never had either. I'm not looking to invest in coins, just collect and have. the uncirculated are cheaper, but the proof is supposed to be more eye appealing. I'm looking to order from the us mint.

G'day, a suggestion.
Buy one proof set. Look at it; hold it; then ask yourself: is it worth the extra ?
I answered that question "no"; but each of us can choose her or his own path ...

i ordered a proof set and an uncirculated set from the us mint. they have a 14 or 30 day guarantee. so I figured that would allow me to look them over and then decide. that was a recommendation I read in one of the coin books I have.

i have a feeling I might say yes because I'm all about looks. the more appealing to the eye the more I want it. but for me, since I'm new, I'm not so concerend with a high grade, valuable coin. I'm more concerned with having a coin I don't have.

Proofs are often more eye-catching. You'll find proofs a bit cheaper than Mint State coins in many of the older series'.

I prefer proofs when buying moderns and business strikes for my older coins.

Good Luck!

I personally prefer the UNC's ,but its a matter of personal taste which to collect .

I have long since sold the proof of this coin but still retain the picture .

I could not make up my mind so I collect both. My preference is the proof coins because of there finish.

For modern "regular issue" US coins I collect both because I use the Dansco albums that include places for both.

i like both but I think a satin finish on an |ASE is more eye appealing than a shiny Proof. The unc I think hides flaws better
