Besides me posting this dollar because it's next in order, the other reason is to show what lighting can do. Apparently I bought this coin because the pictures I saw at the time must have been much like the first set of picture I took for this post. The second set of pictures I took I turned on a florescent light to the side and suddenly the coin looks just horrible. Wish I had seen that before I bought it. The funny thing is that even with the coin in my hand looking through a 10X loop it's almost impossible to see that scratching.

So what do you think?

Very interesting. I'd have to say EF details (cleaned) based on the second set. Does this phenomenon show up on other dollars in your holdings?

Yes, but when they have I've posted those pictures of the coin and you all pretty much graded them as "details". This one and a couple of others I posted before just surprised me in how the scratching's are almost completely invisible in the first set of pictures ....... yet same coin.

the scratches extend across fields and devices. whatever was used to clean it was not overly abrasive but its still a cleaned coin. XF details
