Hi all.
As I have said in earlier posts, I have time on my hands and am going through my coins to try an id them all.
Managed to identify about twenty so far but this one has me stumped.
Any help much appreciated!

Thank you.

It might be Celtic, but it's not a type I've seen before.

No idea on this one Ron, might have to leave it labelled as unidentified for now.

Kevin, sorry this delayed reply. Interesting and enigmatic coin there.

My first thought, based on its superficial resemblance to some medieval English tokens I recalled seeing, was that it might be of that ilk, sort of like:

But those are usually lead, I believe. I don't know if bronze was used for them at all.

I am left wondering if it might possibly be from Sidon. This is perhaps a long stretch, though. There are certainly some similarities to the few published varieties that have stars, pellets, and that don't have legends...see below, for example, from David Ruckser's Coins of the Crusaders. But I'm not seeing anything exactly like it, and I may well be way off base. Given the prices realized on the two coins below yours, it would sure be nice if yours was an unpublished variety of that general type!

Thank you Bob, some interesting points there. Will now have a good rummage through my books and google.
It would be nice if it turns out to be a Coin of the Crusaders. Will let you know if I find something out.
Thanks again Bob.
