I'm new at coin collecting, which has become my passion, and in looking through a penny roll, I found a 1988 Lincoln Penny with a thick rim around it and it makes this penny smaller then other pennies, is it possibly a coin error?
It looks like damage or PSD. The copper plating has been worn away and the zinc core it exposed. The slightly thicker edge makes me think of a Dryer Coin or it could have been spooned.
On a side note... always handle coins by the edge. Never touch the face of a coin as it can cause fingerprints and ruin the value of a collectable coin. White cotton gloves are a must for collecting coins.

To CCF! I would like to see a full obverse and reverse picture of your coin. This is definitely just damage. PSD (Post Strike Damage). I suspect something mechanical caused this damage to occur.
