Are these often rotated like this? I haven't seen or really looked for them before. Also I am assuming this is a cracked planchet not a die crack... which would look like raised metal, correct?

Most collectors look for a rotation of 90 degrees or more. As for the cracks, they are just split copper plating, so it's not an error.

Agreed, not rotated enough to be a keeper. Not a cracked planchet, split copper plating. In future posts it is always best to remove coin from holder when possible, like when it is in a 2x2 holder.Make sure to flatten staples.

Well your pictures are great. Thats way ahead than most already. As for rotation, usually 15 degrees or more is the collectable ones.

A cracked planchet and the effect the OP is looking at are two different things.

What OP is looking at is split plating, this occurs when the copper plating is split away during the strike, exposing the zinc core of the cent. This is an effect unique to zinc Lincoln cents as far as I am aware, and fairly common. You can see this usually on the outer edges of the peripheral letters on the cent, as is evident on this cent.

A cracked planchet is an error that is fairly self described, before a coin is struck, the planchet itself got damaged that caused it to crack, and was struck with the crack, these are extremely uncommon errors. here is a reference: http://www.error-ref.com/cracked-planchet/
