Aloha,

I have a thing for disaster coins. I mean the more extreme PMD the better. So it shouldn't be surprising that I was stoked when I received this '84-d penny in change a few years back. Fast forward to yesterday looking for something to do, I decided to go thru my "freaks" and there she was. So I thru her on the scale and I remain confused. To heavy for a dime planchete? Maybe it was subjected to some child's lab experiment? I welcome the community's input.

Mahalo

It has the classic " Dryer Coin" look. It may just be worn down from friction contact inside a dryer.

2.5g is normal for this date, so this isn't unusual for a coin in this condition
