I have a 1959 gold or silver looking penny I found while going through my husbands old coins. I was wondering if anyone may have any info on it as seeing I can't find anything. Was wondering if it maybe of any value or if it's just a conversation piece. Thanks

Pics are way too small to see anything.

Looks like it may have been plated at one time. it's a science project. You can find videos on utube of how it's done

Could be plated. Maybe heated. Could just be a shiny proof. Hard to tell the actual color but it looks silver in the picture. I'm guessing it was heated to try "toning" it

I agree with Jasper62. We plated coins in high school. That might be chrome, nickel or zinc. I have a copper plated quarter somewhere that our science class did in 1986. Looks (or looked then) like a shiny new penny.
