I have to say I love Numismaster for reference, however...

It would be great if there were more search options. The major one that seems to be missing is the ability to input a date range. The options here are all years or one year.

Has anybody else found a way to do anything different?

Do you think if we came up with a wish list of search options and submitted it to Numismaster with enough signatures they would listen?

Any other searches that people would like to see?

Remember that Numismaster, for the most part, is a subscription website. I know you can get much more info with a subscription and I would imagine that advanced search features would be available too.

I know that you get mintage figures and values with a subscription. I didn't know about any other features. Does anyone have a subscription, and can confirm any additional search features?

There aren't any additional search features.. what you see is what there is for everyone, it's just that if you have a subscription you can see more details such as values, etc. It's quite frustrating at times. What I sometimes end up doing is just entering the denomination rather than the year.. then scroll through pages until I see the one I'm looking for. It's also not Firefox-friendly.

Well now, that is quite a ripoff if you do not have advanced search features with an $80/year subscription

That's not very good. The problem I have is a lot of searches send back 1000 plus results and you can only see the first thousand.

The other thing I like to do is use it to get a group of coins, rather than just using it to identify a particular coin. For identifying it's not too much of a problem as you can usually narrow the list down as x-shift does. But if you just want a list of all Italian coins from the 20th century, for example, you can't do it.

At least restricting the years would alleviate this problem.

The other thing I have noticed is that the years are inconsistent. For example if you want to see every coin issued in 1963 it doesn't bring up all of those with a different dating system, but it seems to bring up some of them, which is strange.

So what do you think? Petition Krause for more options? Surely it can't be that difficult as most search engines I have used seem to have the ability to use "or" and "and" arguments for example.

Maybe someone who knows about programming could comment? Maybe it is more difficult than I realise?

Anyone else have thoughts, or has found a workaround for the problem, let me know.

I have sent an email to the powers that be over there, hopefully I'll get a response soon, or even better maybe they will join us here.

It's not difficult, but could be dependent on what scripting they're using. They also might not think it's a priority. Maybe Bobby's email will change their minds!

It's not difficult,

While searching a DB is not difficult, it is extremely taxing on resources. The more complex the search, the more resources it chews up.
