I found this 82 large date and when I flipped it over it had some cloth stuck to the back of it. So I tried to remove it, where the fields are it came off a little bit. So I looked at it through my 10x and my 20x loop's. It's melted into the metal. Look around one cent the columns, and the roof of the building it's melted in the coin. So is it real or fake I don't know I've never found one before. Looking for you experts to help me please. *** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. I have tried my wife's finger nail polish remover that didn't work. It has acetone in it but I don't know how strong. I will try full acetone and see if that works.

Appears to be glued on to me. You may have to soak it for quite some time.

to the CCF! If using Acetone on coins use only pure acetone. Fingernail polish remover can have other chemicals and oils add that may damage the surface of a coin. You can pick up a can at Home Depot for about $8. Pure acetone dries completely without leaving any residue. Just read ALL of the cautions before you use it as it it a fire and health risk.

Ok guys I did soak it and I did get the cloth off of it with scrubbing it with Q tips and atooth pic. But on the one cent at the bottom of the letters it's like hollowed out. On four or five of the columns and on the R&L side of the roof and on Meri, and bus and um letters there is light damage where the cloth was stuck to the coin.
