In some countries battalions were designated by Roman numerals and regiments by Arabic. So III/123 would have meant the third battalion of the 123rd regiment. Prussia used this system, Britain didn't. Did the USA? This is only a suggestion and could be completely wrong. I look forward to any info from forum members. Report this Post to the Staff
norantyki Valued Member 404 Posts	Posted 04/30/2020 04:14 am As per above, looks to me like a WWI German canteen token - I've seen similar ones in brass from before the war (early 20thc). My guess yours is zinc due to wartime demand. Report this Post to the Staff
