So I found a worn, but not slick 1988 quarter. Rim is interesting and need some help what caused this...

Acid damage. It eats away at copper faster than zinc, that why it has that oreo cookie look to it. Some say sandwich, I just love oreos..lol.. Thats the weight your missing. Whatever it was, it was eating at both metals.
