Can you take anything from the 79 O?
First off I have this coin it is graded AU-55 . I think it is under graded and should be AU-58. My photos do not do it justice as it has very little wear from what I can tell and full luster . I will try and get better photos . This is my favorite AU coin I have

If the photos are accurate, I think it's right on the edge of 55/58. Main issue is luster impairment not so much wear. Wear is just trace.

If the luster is full in hand than yeah it's undergraded because everything else looks 58

PCGS missed several grades for me with almost all of my morgans so that doesn't surprise me. the 79(O) is known for average to above average strikes. the slight weakness around the ear and just a slight weakness in the breast would put this one in that range. I'm not sure how much the TPG's put weight on whats average for that particular year though. luster is broken all over both sides. you have a good hit near the wing and a couple black marks on the reverse that probably could not be removed. the wear to me puts in the AU58 bucket but the amount of wear on the profile itself, especially the chin area which is a key area, most likely is what resulted in knocking it down a peg.

AU-58 certainly sounds reasonable here.

I would agree with AU-58.

I think the photos maybe making it look like the luster is broken but that is the lighting coin has very good solid luster , does have a few dark spots on the rear for sure though but surrounded by luster
