This is a very well worn coin without any writing that I can make out. On the obverse there's a busy facing right, with what looks like a date of 170? at the very bottom. On the reverse I can't make out the design, but it looks almost like 180? at the bottom. Any ideas? The general reverse possibly looks like GB. My eyes are hurting from staring at it under magnification for so long :p

Diameter and weight will be helpful, but yes, that's a tough one.

Is it correct that it looks like copper or a copper alloy (bronze, brass, etc)?

One impression is that this could be an Italian States coin, and that the reverse has an allegorical figure and the word SOLDI in the exergue (below the line).

THANK YOU! You got it! Sardinia, 5 soldi, 1796, KM# 91. Looking through Krause I was able to find a similar picture, and it became much clearer with a reference to compare to.
