Dear Friends, Requesting your grading opinion on this 1922 Peace dollar. Though the obverse is relatively clean, it does have what seem like rubs with no real marks... Please check the pictures and pass on your comments on potential grade it will make with NGC. Thanks for all your inputs!

Looks like a lot of orange peel on the OBV. *may* technically be a 65, I'd guess 62-63.

It certainly looks like a booming coin, but I'd like to see even larger images.

I'll say MS-63 for this coin. Luster looks great.

Thanks for the sharp focus pictures; they are needed in this case.

The rough surfaces has made me consider if this coin may have had a quick dip in dilute acid. The roughness is all over the coin, not just the fields. in these pictures, parts of the 'P' and 'L' have almost disappeared, along with some details of the eagle's feathers. Haven't seen a Peace like this before.
There is some evidence of radial metal flow in the fields near the rims, which normally indicate worn dies
.
Nevertheless, a lot of the luster appears to remain, which is a bit contradictory to the acid hypothesis.

I would be happy to be proven wrong.

Surfaces look original to me. I think the weak lettering is strike related, and the appearance is due to some light natural toning on both sides. A dip might improve the coin's marketability, as it would get that "blast white" appearance, but I personally prefer original surfaces.

I don't think the slab fees would be justified on this coin. There appears to be enough marks to hold it to MS-64. Maybe you'll get a 65 but not worth the gamble for such a common date IMO.
