Short scratches on both sides keep this at 64, imo.

uncirculated (British grading),
PR-62 Sheldon.

Great Britain's first copper nickel Crown, a commemorative, not issued into general circulation. Struck only as proof. This example not a frosted proof, which are quite scarce.

I think it is the best design ever, anywhere in the World, for a copper nickel Crown sized coin.
Reverse design originally by Benedetto Pistrucci, first used on a British gold sovereign in 1817.
Obverse design by Thomas Hugh Paget 'HP' just below the truncation of neck, below image of George V1.
Both designs have been used for issued into circulation coinage in their billions.

They are all proofs, but there are different types of proofs:

- standard proof
- proofs from sandblasted dies (for photographic purposes),
- proofs with blundered edge lettering,
- proofs with heavily frosted devices and brilliant fields,
- proofs with plain edge.
