Paper is showing its age, but it still has 5 interest warrants attached. This has been in a box in my family over 100 years.

That's a neat one! You see a lot of state bonds from the Civil War, but not many county bonds. Thanks for posting that!

I have now put this in archival page protector sheet. Also put all the old currency in archival protection. Wish that had been done 100 years ago!

That's certainly a wise move. Not much can be done about the paper separations, but at least it won't get any worse.

After looking at this again, I find the vignette a bit curious. This looks like a Civil War era bond, but the soldiers depicted seem to have Revolutionary War uniforms.

I agree GregAlex the soldiers look revolutionary war style. What I think the reason is that the bond was approved by the Special Session of the legislature in May 1861 just a month after the war began and must have been hastily created and printed. If I go to North Carolina anytime I will bring it with me and and see what I can find in their archives.
