I found this Merc. coin roll hunting. The 4 in the date 1945 appears to be almost completely gone--only a shadow of the 4 remains. Would this be a mint error, and if so, would it have any significant value? n Thanks! *** Moved by Staff moved to a more appropriate forum. ***

Looks as if it was struck by a Grease Filled Die. As far as a premium I wouldn't think so.

Thanks for your insight on this. Guess I won't be getting rich off this one! I appreciate the information nonetheless!

macmercury--what is CRH? I'm not too savvy about coins. I'm sure I should know, but I'm drawing a blank.

CRH means coin roll hunting - that's where you get full rolls from a financial institution and hope to find collectible coins in the rolls. {õ¿õ}

I disagree as to value. Many error collectors out there and they would love to get this one.

To me it looks cleaned; probably dipped.
