1853 Half Dime Die Clash? - Coin Community Forum

amnight Valued Member United States 332 Posts	Posted 06/09/2020 9:38 pm Picked this today at a coin shop. Wanted opinions on whether this coin has a die clash on it. I have been trying to identify it, but nothing seems to match the overlays of this coin that I have seen. I have "circled and arrowed" the parts of the coin that I cannot match up. The obverse contains an area in front of the legs that appears to be a clash. The subject appears to have slight extensions of the fingers on the left hand and also has a line "clash" running from the left shoulder to the pole in hand. The lowest star on the left side looks to be doubled (I'm not sure). The reverse has a lot going on, I have also identified the areas of interest on the reverse too. Conder101 Bedrock of the Community United States 17884 Posts	Posted 06/10/2020 02:20 am Yes it is a die clash, but it looks like the dies were rotated a little when they clashed. that is something you have to consider when looking at overlays.
